We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Data Governance Specialist to take on a pivotal role within our global technology team. As a Lead Consultant Specialist, you will be instrumental in shaping and safeguarding our data governance strategy across GPS Data platforms, driving both innovation and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive end-to-end data governance framework, including processes, policies, and standards to support effective data management.
- Oversee and protect the data assets of GPS Data platforms, ensuring data integrity, consistency, security, and compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams and stakeholders to ensure adherence to data governance policies throughout the data lifecycle.
- Define and execute the Data Governance Roadmap, including tracking progress and delivering regular status reports.
- Establish best practices for data management, quality, and lifecycle governance, with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Build organizational capacity and awareness in data literacy and drive a data-driven culture.
- Identify and facilitate employee training to strengthen data governance capabilities across teams.
- Promote automation of data management processes to enhance efficiency and reduce manual efforts.
- Define and enforce data security standards, governing data movement, storage, and usage.
- Function both as an individual contributor and as a leader of a small team (2–5 members).
- Work closely with business and operations teams to understand needs and define both short-term features and long-term strategies.
- Leverage expertise in payments, banking, and data analytics to solve complex business problems.
- Recommend and implement methods to enhance data quality, streamline systems, and support strategic decision-making.
- Manage multiple priorities effectively and collaborate across partner teams to deliver results.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- 10+ years of experience in data governance, including data quality, master data management, data privacy & compliance, metadata management, and data lineage.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing full-scale data governance frameworks.
- Strong background in the Payments and Banking domain is essential.
- Hands-on experience with automated data cataloging, metadata management, and data discovery tools.
- Deep understanding of data governance best practices, tools, and industry standards.
- Experience managing data compliance across large, globally distributed financial organizations.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present complex data concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, with a strong foundation in at least two of the following: Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics.
Preferred Skills and Experience (Nice to Have)
- Knowledge of Relational, NoSQL, and DocumentDB databases.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, BigQuery, BigTable, MongoDB, Neo4j, or similar technologies.
- Expertise in Conceptual, Logical, and Physical Data Modeling.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and leading agile teams in alignment with organizational objectives.
- Strong leadership abilities and a collaborative team player with a focus on quality and operational efficiency.
